Serena C. Klempin, Research Associate

Serena C. Klempin conducts qualitative research on advising and student support services.

Klempin is a doctoral student in sociology and education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her dissertation examines the role of higher education in addressing students' basic needs. She holds a BA in English from Kenyon College with a concentration in African and African American Studies, and a MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work with a concentration in policy.

Previously, Klempin worked for Columbia University School of Social Work’s Center for Research on Fathers, Children, and Family Well-Being, where she conducted program evaluations, survey research, and qualitative research. Her current research interests include organizational change and the role of academic and non-academic support services in promoting student success.
